About Founder

Gautam believes in the power of determination, creativity, and passion in the creation of Minimalist- a brand of Lifestyle Hotels in India. As an ardent traveler and design thinker, Gautam is a global citizen who draws inspiration from his journeys around the world to bring unique hospitality experiences to life.

His first venture began in Delhi, at Hauz Khas Village, where he introduced a pioneering concept featuring Japanese capsules alongside rooms and apartments. As the Poshtel brand matured, it evolved and rebranded into Minimalist Hotels, reflecting a refined vision and expanded horizons.

Gautam describes himself as a global citizen, with his formative years shaped by working for the world’s largest youth-run organization- AIESEC. Often referred to as an ‘experiential MBA,’ this experience, with its vision of “peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential,” and its core values of diversity, integrity, sustainability, leadership, inclusivity  and teamwork, had a profound impact on him.

Each Minimalist Hotel has its own unique identity while maintaining the core concept of Design Led Living enabling community experiences. Gautam thoughtfully considers the local environment and culture to integrate into his hotel designs. In Delhi, the identity is a blend of the city’s vibrant chaos, enriching adventures, and diverse cultural tapestry. Varanasi offers a more spiritual setting, combining serene surroundings with modern, minimalist rooms. Naldehra provides a retreat for disconnection in the heart of the mountains close to Shimla, creating a tranquil escape. Goa, on the other hand, delivers a convivial, modern vacation experience with a focus on leisure, featuring a pool and palm trees. Each location retains its unique aura while adhering to Gautam’s meticulously designed aesthetic and decor.

From a design perspective, Gautam’s mission was to merge the intimate charm of a boutique hotel with the vibrant social atmosphere of an upscale hostel. The focus was on creating spaces that foster a sense of community while embracing minimalist design principles. Minimalist hotels are more than just functional spaces; they are designed to cultivate a tribe of wanderlust-driven travelers seeking meaningful connections and collaborative experiences that resonate with the modern millennial mindset.

“I believe that before embarking on a project like Minimalist Hotels, it’s crucial to understand your value proposition—what you are bringing to the world. I always ask myself, ‘Why will my guests feel more enriched and empowered as a result of staying at or spending time in one of our properties?’ With a commitment to art, culture, and curated experiences at our core, we aim to open hearts and minds through our timeless and inclusive vibe. Our focus is always on culture, community,

Poshtel’s evolution into Minimalist Hotels represents a deeply personal journey for Gautam, as it embodies his very essence and all that he stands for. and hospitality.”
